Lagonegro

Nestled in the mountains of the Lucanian Apennines, I am surrounded by lush forests.
I am a village with ancient charm; my origins are rooted in the centuries of centuries.
My streets wind through medieval alleys, ancient noble palaces and charming little squares. My history is full of charm and mystery, and I keep fascinating and unique stories.
The historic center looks at the peak of Mount Sirino which, with its 1900 meters, hosts the Sanctuary of the Madonna della Neve. My territory is bathed by Lake Laudemio, with its crystalline waters and frozen in winter.
Among my treasures stand out the Church of San Nicola, with its works of sacred art, and the remains of my medieval castle, which tell of a time when I was a strategic stronghold.
In addition to history and culture, I offer uncontaminated landscapes and opportunities for nature lovers. Panoramic trails, trekking itineraries and mountain excursions await you to discover the wonders that surround me.
I invite you to walk my streets, admire my picturesque views and breathe my unique atmosphere. Come and discover me.
And you will be amazed by the legend of the Mona Lisa, the famous woman portrayed in the most famous painting in the world, which binds her to my history for eternity.

The Novel of Leonardo da Vinci”
