Brindisi di Montagna

< scorri orizzontalmente >

I am an ancient fiefdom surrounded by green hills and valleys.

My origins date back to the Middle Ages, and over the centuries I have seen knights, farmers and bandits pass by, each of whom has left an indelible mark on my cultural fabric and influenced my architecture.

Walking through my streets, you can admire the remains of the 13th century castle, which dominates the surrounding landscape, a silent witness of distant eras.
My churches, like that of San Nicola, preserve works of art and tell the devotion of the generations who have lived here.

One of my most precious treasures is the Parco della Grancia, the first rural historical park in Italy, which extends over 50 hectares of woods and clearings. Here, every summer, “La Storia Bandita” comes to life, a show that narrates the events of post-unification brigandage, involving over 400 actors in a suggestive and engaging representation, full of special effects and suggestions.

Every year, in the middle of autumn, medieval life echoes in the village, offering a glimpse of history with a dive into the past for the thousands of people I host.

Immerse yourself in my eras and be fascinated by my secular age.
Come visit me and live an unforgettable experience in the Lucanian Middle Ages.

What is the history of the Brindisi di Montagna castle?

Fittipaldi Castle dates back to the 13th century and was built as a strategic defensive structure. Over the centuries, it belonged to various noble families, from the Sanseverino to the Antinori to the Fittipaldi, from which it takes its name. Situated on the highest point, the castle dominates the village and offers a panoramic view of the surrounding valleys

What is Grancìa Park?

A vast green area, La Grancia was originally an ancient monastic complex. Over time, it became a point of reference for the rural economy of the area. With the decline of monastic life, the area was abandoned and later recovered for the creation of the Grancia Park. Today, this park hosts the famous show “La Storia Bandita”, which tells the story of Lucanian brigandage, falconry shows and spaces dedicated to crafts and typical products
